Special Breeds

Certain dog breeds have weak cartilage in their windpipes and are prone to a condition called “trachea collapse.” ANY pressure applied to the throat area can worsen the condition. It can become so severe that sufficient air cannot make it into the lungs, and affected dogs may die of respiratory distress. You may not know they have it when you are grooming them – so why take that chance.

Damaging The Trachea

Traditional grooming uses a grooming loop that hangs from the top of the grooming arm. When a dog is frightened or aggressive they try to back up or push forward. Either way, that causes the grooming loop to press into the unprotected trachea.
